St Luke's Area of Torquay - An Introduction

The St Luke's area of Torquay is perched above Torquay seafront and in fact is atop of one of Torquay's eight hills. In this case the hill is Waldron Hill. Today, it is an area that has undergone something of a renaissance and is a highly sought after peaceful, residential area with many properties having outstanding sea and town views.

We have several properties available in the area. The first is our fantastic two bedroom, two bathroom Number 2 Ellington Court  which is joined in the same gated complex by the Sea View Apartment, 7 Ellington Court. Not far away are the two the beautiful  apartments at Ockendon House: Ockendon House Apartment A  and Ockendon House Apartment B both in Warren Road with town views and a wonderful sun trap terrace.

A great advantage of the location is that the seafront area, the harbour and the town centre are all easily accessible. Being in an elevated position walking to these areas will require a fair degree of travelling uphill or down hill but anyone with average fitness should be able to tackle them with little difficulty.

Torre Abbey Sands Development in Torquay

Torre Abbey Sands and The Torre Abbey Sands Development

Torre Abbey Sands is Torquay's main beach and sits at the foot of the St Lukes's area of Torquay. As the name suggests, the beach is sandy. At high tide the beach disappears whilst at low tide the sea retreats to leave a large expanse of sandy beach. The sea is very shallow and sheltered and this makes it popular for bathers of all ages.

Close by Torre Abbey Sands is The Torre Abbey Sands Development which contains a number of restaurants such as Le Bistro Pierre and On The Rocks as well as coffee shops, takeaways and bars.

Torre Abbey Gardens and Torre Abbey

Also close at hand are the beautiful Torre Abbey Gardens which also feature a pitch and put course plus a crazy golf course.

Behind these gardens sits one of Torquay's main attractions - Torre Abbey. Once one of the richest monasteries in the country it later became home to the Cary family who were one of the families who shaped Torquay's growth as a holiday destination. Today the Abbey is a museum and home to the municipal art collection.
