PART I - The Building

An Overview Of The Ellington Court Apartment

  • The Ellington Court Apartment is located in the St Luke's area of Torquay, a short distance from the harbour and town centre. The apartment is on the ground floor and is a modern extension of a Victorian Villa whch itself has been divided into apartments.
  • The property address is Apartment 2, Ellington Court, St Luke's Road, Torquay. TQ2 5NZ
  • The property is on a hill.
  • There is one step up to the property. Inside, the apartment is completely on one level.

Getting to The Ellington Court Apartment

  • Torquay’s mainline railway station is approx half a mile away. Most train journeys will involve a change at either Exeter or Newton Abbot although there are a limited number of direct trains each day. There is a taxi rank at the station which has taxis available whilst train services operate. Most services are operated by First Great Western.
  • The coach station is approx 1.5 miles away. There are numerous coach services from a number of different places. Services are largely operated by National Express. Taxis are available from the coach station.
  • The nearest bus stop is less than 100 yards away outside Harold Court. Bus service 61 serves the area. 
  • There is an excellent high frequency bus service to other parts of  our Bay area and bus services link up to other towns such as Totnes, Exeter and Plymouth. Services are generally operated by Stagecoach. These are  accessed via stops on the harbourside.

  • There is one allocated parking space for the apartment.
  • This space is immediately outside the apartment by the blue plaque.
  • The parking area is accessed via electric gates. A code to open the gate is sent to guests ahead of arrival.
  • There is a normal pedestrian access gate which is opened manually.
  • The parking area has a tarmac surface which is in good condition.
  • Ther eis some lighting at night.
  • From the parking space there is a paved footpath to the entrance to the apartment.
  • There is then a small threshold step at the front door.

  • The width of the doorway into the apartment is approx 95cm and all subsequent doorways are the same..
  • The bedrooms, hallways,dining hall and living room all have a tiled surface which has a wooden appearance..
  • The apartment is all on a single level..
  • There is level access between bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and dining hall.
  • The living room has good natural light from dual apect windows. Both bedrooms have windows. The ensuites and cloakroom have no natural light.
  • The kitchen has a window and daylight from the door.
  • The ensuites have showers only.
  • The main bedroom has a king sized bed and the second bedroom has a double bed.
  • The apartment has gas central heating which guests can control.

  • We are happy to assist with luggage on arrival and departure.
  • From Shop Mobility we can obtain mobility aids such as wheel chairs or scooters. (There is normally a small charge for the use of these.). 
  • We can direct guests to appropriate access information for places to visit or for eating etc.

 

For Guests With Visual Impairments   

  • We have good colour contrasting in our fixtures and fittings of our rooms.
  • We Have good lighting.
  • We Can offer large print copies of our own materials.

 

For Guests with Hearing Impairments

  • We ensure that we speak clearly to help guests lip read.
  • We can direct the guest to written information
  • We have teletext and subtitles on our TVs

 

For Guests With Families

  • The apartment has two bedrooms.
  • Main bedroom has a king sized bed.
  • Second bedroom  has a double bed. 
  • There is a high chair in the apartment.
  • We can provide a cot for a nominal charge of £5.00
  • There is a separate cloakroom with toilet.

For Guests With Bronchitis and Breathing Difficulties

  • We can change bedding to Non feather bedding.
  • We maintain high standards of cleaning in the rooms and have regular scheduled deep cleans.

 

For Guests With Food Allergies Or Special Diets

  • We are happy to make provision for guests with allergies or special diets and can arrange for food to be delivered in advance of our guests’ arrival.

 

For Guests With Assistance Dogs

  • We can accommodate assistance dogs in all of the apartments.
  • We do not make any additional charge for officially registered assistance dogs. 

 

For Guests With Other Specific Requirements

  • We are able to make some adaptations to rooms to accommodate special equipment. For example we have adapted rooms to accommodate portable dialysis units and have stored fluid for guests in advance of arrival.
